Mothermotherland is a devised performance that explores motherhood, motherland, and Ukrainian and American experience through the lens of short story I Am (a Romantic), written in 1924 by Ukrainian writer of the Executed Renaissance period Mykola Khyvylovy.

The performance is increasing the visibility of Ukrainian culture in the USA and stimulating dialogue between Ukrainians and Americans. It draws inspiration from Ukrainian movie and theater director Les Krubas, French stage actor and movement coach Jacques Lecoq, and postdocumentary theater, and is developed through the devised theatre methods.

Slovo. Theatre Group is traveling across the United States to perform, engage local communities, and fight on the cultural front against oppression of Ukrainian culture by promoting Ukrainian culture abroad.
